Advanced Drawing Portfolio Fall 25

Project 1:
"Muse"
49" x 48"
Charcoal
Fall 2025
Muse is inspired by my fiance and depicts him examining his ring. It was completed for the first project in Advanced Drawing.

Project 2:
"Eomma" 4887
48" x 48"
Charcoal
Fall 2025
Eomma means Mother in Korean. This piece depicts my mother holding her necklace, which reads Eomma, that I bought her while we were in Korea this summer. This piece is a manifestation of my mother. her hands depict not only her life on her left hands with her wedding rings, but also the lives of her family's mothers before her that shared the same hands. Her silver hairs, textured hands, red finger polish, and jewelry all make my mother who I am. She made me who I am as well. My eomma.

Project 3:
"JeeYeong in Wonderland"
48" x 87"
water soluble graphite
JeeYeong in wonderland depicts me (my Korean name is JeeYeong) falling in traditional Korean dress. It symbolizes the emotion of falling into an unfamiliar place, which is similar to Alice's descent into wonderland, that I felt during my month long solo trip to Seoul this summer. It was a personal examination of my relationship with South Korea the cultural disconnect of diaspora.

Project 4:
"Yellowface"
47" x 58"
water color wash, chalk pastels
Fall 2025
Yellowface explores the fetishization of asian women through a familiar pose: pulling back eyelids. The figure holds an annoyed expression, showing her disdain for the constraints and demands that society is pushing upon her. The downward view is also symbolic of the submissive and small stereotype of asian women
